THE PATH OF INNOCENCE – VACATION UNDER FRANCO

RAUM ZEIT

THE ESTONIANS

In his installation Christoph Otto brings together people who lived through Franco’s dictatorship: locals from Spain and tourists from Germany – two different perspectives on the same reality. Speaking on behalf of their generation and their experiences, they recount what it was like to grow up in Franco’s Spain or to spend their holidays there. Their juxtaposition gives rise, just as it did back then, to an ambivalence of values and feelings.

RAUMZEIT features photographic portraits of astronauts who have left the planet to explore the unknown. Their faces become visual metaphors for transformation, reflecting the existential questions of what it means to be human. This exhibition by artist Christoph Otto invites visitors to explore the experiences of isolation, global interconnectedness, and the dissolution of the self’s boundaries. It is a piece about self reflection.

Estonia personifies its inheritance from old European traditions, arduous Soviet influence, fresh creativity, and anticipated future. Each photo from this art piece by Christoph Otto is the turning point of a never tearing bow, the tightened changing point of our solar plexus in the way the girl reaches it by swinging in the climax of the summer, at the highest point of her childhood, the sandals already on the feet of a woman.
